The ASCUI election candidates for the 2025-2026 year

By Madison Zuniga | 1/17/2025

The ASCUI election took place on Jan. 29, as students were able to vote for the President and Vice President for the 2025-2026 school year. Voting forms were sent to students through email and students were also able to vote in-person outside of the caf until Fri. Jan. 30.

Junior Brody Collins and junior Landon McIntire are running for President and Vice President uncontested. Students could find their campaign posters around campus during the voting period of the election.

Collins is running for President. He is a Business Administration major with an emphasis in finance and management. As described by ASCUI, Collins would serve as a “bridge between students and higher administration,” as the President is responsible for meeting with Concordia faculty and staff, including President Michael Thomas and Megan Bouslaugh, Dean of Student Affairs.

Collins’ role would be to advocate for students, make proposals, execute meetings and receive feedback from the student population. He would represent the student body and lead to changes on campus. The President also oversees the rest of the ASCUI executive board.

“I love to lead a team towards a goal, and really want next year's ASCUI team to be one that the

student body can actively see pursuing change,” said Collins. “The President’s role of being a middleman between faculty and the student body gives me a platform to make positive contributions to this school. Ultimately, I love Concordia and want to invest in this school's culture.”

Collins has been actively involved in different leadership roles, including being a Sigma Residential Assistant (RA). He is a part of the Pickleball club, CUI Birdies, and CIG Investments Group. “I love attending the events here and participating in The Hunt activities as well,” said Collins.

Collins shared his ideas and goals for the upcoming school year: “I hope to revamp funding for student government, giving more freedom for creativity with events and ideas on campus. With this, I would like to create a designated student section sitting area. This could mean changing the color of the seating, or creating cool signage where students feel more comfortable sitting,” said Collins.

“These first two goals will assist in connecting the student body on another level,” Collins explained. “Practically, this looks like the student body supporting athletes at games, athletes going to performances, and a larger number of students attending events like Midnight Madness and Concordia Christmas.”

Landon McIntire is running for Vice President. McIntire studies Finance and Analytics.

“I wanted to pursue the role of Vice President because I love this school and want to make it better,” said McIntire. “I was originally planning to graduate after three years of Concordia but have been loving student leadership so much I decided to stay another!”

The Vice President runs the ASCUI Senate and will collect feedback and implement changes brought up by students. ASCUI describes the role as serving as a “‘middle man’ between the student body and student government and administration.” McIntire would also meet monthly with different departments like RES, Campus Safety and Bon Appetit.

McIntire currently serves as the ASCUI Club Commissioner for the 2024-2025 year.

“My experience on ASCUI as Club Commissioner has prepared me to be Vice President because of my relationships with club presidents (the heart and soul of this campus), experience with Senate, and relationships with faculty like Tim Odle, Raul Morales, and the legendary [Dr.] Michael Thomas,” said McIntire.

Both Collins and McIntire are looking forward to working with each other next year. “Brody Collins and I want to re-do the outdoor basketball courts. This remodel would include motion-sensing lights, pickleball lines, and new backboards/nets. Think 2K blacktop courts in your backyard,” said McIntire.

“Landon and I are both go-getters and intend on making things happen. I am so excited to use our people skills to communicate with faculty and represent the student body. Above all we both

want to lead with our faith in God, working to be disciples in the roles we serve on ASCUI,” said Collins.

The official results of the election are expected to be released by ASCUI on Feb. 10.
