In the fall semester of 2021, Concordia Music students were just getting started as they caught the rhythm of navigating their new normal again with in-person performances. Now, CUI’s Music Department is jazzing up performances to add a “spring” in the semester’s step.

To kick off the start of the semester, there will be a John Patatitucci and Friends Concert on Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m and the John Patitucci Jazz Trio Concert on Jan. 28 from 7:30 p.m to 9:30 p.m. Both concerts will be located at Borland-Manske Center Charlie and Ling Zhang Orchestra Hall.

“Acoustic bassist John Patitucci has performed throughout the world and as a studio musician with Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, Pat Metheny, Wynton Marsalis, Astrud and Joao Gilberto, Joao Bosco, and Dori Caymmi,” according to the Music Department’s online listing. “His six solo recordings for GRP Records, and his subsequent recordings have put him at the forefront of the jazz world and brought him worldwide acclaim, as well as three Grammy Awards and over 20 Grammy nominations.”

So come out for two evenings of intimate concert events. See you there! For more information, visit https://www.cui.edu/arts/music/events.
