Valentine’s Day is approaching on Tues., Feb. 14 and the Orange County area offers a variety of activities to experience on the day of love. Whether you are in a relationship, or just want to “Anti-Valentine’s Day” with your friends, Concordia students shared their ideas for the best activities in Orange County.

Kai Wong, a junior, encouraged that “OC has so many fun things to do.” To make a first date memorable, Wong recommends visiting Knott's Berry Farm or Disneyland with your special someone. Knott's Berry Farm Tickets start at $59 for general admission when purchased on their website and $73 at Disneyland for Southern California residents. Another way to experience the Disney magic on Valentine’s Day is simply visiting Downtown Disney for free. Wong noted that she enjoys Valentine's Day adding, “It is cute that everything is pink and red, and I just love celebrating love.”

Senior Giselle Raefel thinks the best date is “having fun at an arcade.” To Rafael, the best dates focus on “getting to know each other and having fun.” There are many different arcades to choose from in OC, with Dave and Busters in Irvine Spectrum being a popular choice. You can go in and enjoy the environment or buy a Power Card starting at $15 and play various arcade games.

Raefel says she will “have a picnic at the park” for Valentine’s Day adding that “maybe after the picnic, we will paint in our free time.” Whether playing a game together or painting, joint activities can strengthen the bonding experience on a first date or with a group of friends.

Valentine's Day holds a special meaning for many and Mille Rafael, a sophomore, says Valentine’s Day “should be shared with someone.” Rafael added OC is known for its "diversity, people and authentic food," and people can find fun things to do everywhere. She suggests a great first date would be visiting “Long Beach and riding the Rainbow Lagoon Swans by Wheel Fun Rentals for a nice sunset view.” Tickets for general admission are $12 for adults. Other rental services, such as biking and hand crank pedals, are also available.

Evelyn Galvan, a junior, said, “Seeing all the romance movies show up and eating a lot of chocolates” is what she’s most excited about for Valentine’s Day. Galvan also advocates for the wide range of experience within OC. Explore Orange County’s many views around town, and make this Valentine's Day exciting and eventful with these activities that are guaranteed winners for a fun date or group meet up.
