In just three weeks, ASCUI will be hosting our annual Theme Verse week! Concordia celebrates the theme of the year by giving out theme verse gear, free goodies and hosting fun events! 

Theme Verse week will be starting November 1st  and continues through November 5th. Each day during lunch hours, the ASCUI team and Senators will be outside on the Student Union Patio handing out free goodies, playing fun games and you can also buy yourself some “Something New” gear. Everyone who comes by can also get entered into a raffle to win some fun outdoor themed prizes including gift cards, a Hydroflask and “Something New'' gear. 

The theme of the 2021-2022 school year is “Something New'' and is inspired by the Bible verse Isaiah 43:18-19, which states, “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” 

One of the theme verse team members, Payton Walter, shared some insights on how the theme came together this year and what it means for our campus. Walter stated, “We all brought forward a bunch of verses, and as we began to narrow down our choices, we found that we were really focused on the themes of hope, God's presence, and restoration. We felt that Isaiah 43:18-19 really embodied our hope for the new school year to be one of restoration and new things. The verse also reminds us that God is at work in our lives and He has made a way through the wilderness of life in Jesus, our Savior."

Another exciting event for theme verse week will be on Wednesday, November 3 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ASCUI will be hosting a coffeehouse night in Sigma General! There will be games, food and live jazz music from some of the students in the Music department. Towards the end of the night, one of our CUI student leaders will be leading a devotional and there will be some worship songs to follow! Don’t worry, we also have lots of yummy treats and of course COFFEE! You don’t want to miss it!
