On Tues., Feb. 22, the Black Student Union (BSU)  held their annual block party in Sigma General where they celebrated Black culture through businesses, music, food and trivia. 

Senior Miylan Eubanks said that the Black Student Union’s mission is to “Give Black students a safe space on campus to decompress, have a good time, and push forward the best version of themselves.” Eubanks found that the club has a “good sense of community, and they allow a space where Black culture can take its shape in all forms and not just a standard monolith,” and the annual BSU block party is a place where this takes form.

CUI’s Disc Golf Club attracts attention and new members across campus

CUI has a wide array of clubs and activities across the campus for students to get involved in, but not many know about the school’s growing Disc Golf Club. 

The sport of Disc Golf revolves heavily around the sport of actual golf, applying many similar rules. Players throw carefully-crafted discs with specific characteristics to fly in many different  ways, similar to the way  a driver, wedge, and putter would behave. The holes also have a set par count, encouraging players to shoot for the lowest stroke-count possible.

Ka Pu’uhonua is a club at Concordia that seeks to provide a community for Pacific Islander students and more by holding events that share different aspects of Hawaiian culture.

Ka Pu’uhonua means “a place of peace, safety and sanctuary” and their mission statement is E Ulu A Paʻa which means “to grow, to flourish and to thrive." Club Vice President and junior, Sheri Tegan said the goal for the club “is to educate about Hawaiian culture and create a safe, inclusive space for students and faculty, including, but not limited to, people from Hawaiʻi and/or people of Hawaiian and Polynesian descent.”
