Men’s lacrosse team celebrates a win during their successful season

The men’s lacrosse team is having a great season this year with an outstanding winning record of 10-1 so far this spring.

Athletes Braden Schneider and Jackson McKenney spoke about the team's success so far this season as well as their own goals.

Schneider, a sophomore, said, “I would say that our team stays composed. We faced the adversity that was against us. We fought till the end, and came out on top. I feel like I executed the game against ASU well. I had lots of penalties, the refs weren’t really a big fan of me.”

During the game against Grand Canyon University, Schneider made his presence known on the field. “And [I] won my matchup as well,” Schneider added.

Schneider also talked about what stood out to him during these games, and said, “Our whole offense stood out to me. They definitely covered for the defense and fired on all cylinders putting up 14 goals. The goal for the season is to give 100% all 60 minutes, and win out the rest of the season.”

Senior McKenney talked about some of his recent games and said, “Before the win at the USC game, we put a major emphasis on playing as a team rather than individuals. We knew we needed to trust each other and be more selfless. That mindset definitely showed up on the field and on the scoreboard at USC. Walking away from the games before the USC match we knew our offense was capable of so much more. We needed to be more selfless, and we saw that last weekend when eight different scorers tallied a total of 20 goals at USC.” USC were ranked number 10, and now the Eagles are number two in the conference with an outstanding record.

McKenney has been nursing a recent shoulder injury and said, “Personally, I have been out with a shoulder injury prior to the GCU game. It felt great to get back out on the field and help my team come away with a win.”

“As a team, we have a goal of winning not only our conference, but a national championship,” McKenney said, “We’re on the right track, but still have lots of work to do. We’re confident we’ll be bringing the trophy back to Concordia in May.”

The men's lacrosse team has been killing it out on the field. Make sure to watch their next home game on April 13, which is also senior night.
