On Oct. 27, during the Los Angeles Chargers game at SoFi Stadium, an arena of 70,000 fans were met with sounds and instruments that are rarely heard or seen at a pro sports game. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Concordia Handbell’s ensemble took the field during halftime to give a performance in honor of those who have “rung the bell” and won the fight against breast cancer.

Fall Choral Concert Scheduled to Delight Audience on October 27

The leaves have begun to fall, the weather is starting to cool down, and the Concordia choral groups are preparing for their annual fall concert! Sunday, Oct. 27  at 3:30 p.m., the women’s chorus, Donne di Canto, and the men’s chorus will be performing together in the first major choral concert of the year at Concordia. The concert is directed by Dr. Clarissa Shan, with Gyojin Kim as the pianist.

On Oct. 19, the Concordia Symphony Orchestra performed one of Beethoven’s most grand symphonies to a sold-out audience in Zhang Hall. Conducted by Dr. Jeff Held, Assistant Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences, Concordia’s orchestra took on Beethoven’s Third Symphony “Eroica” which is made up of four separate movements and stands at an astounding hour-long duration.

Featuring adjunct professor of piano, Dr. Hyenjoo Choi, Concordia Symphony Orchestra, Donne Di Canto, Men’s Chorus and soloists Bryan Pezzone and icon, Pat Boone, the Roger Williams Centennial Concert was an astounding accomplishment for the Music Department and an electric way to begin the year of performances.

“The Trojan Women” offers powerful perspective on war, God and faith

Written in 415 B.C, the play is set in the aftermath of the Trojan War and focuses on the fates of the women of Troy, particularly Queen Hecuba, played by Isabella Mangahis, her daughter Cassandra, played by Camille Beeson, and her daughter-in-law Andromache, played by Ashley Kosonen, as they are taken captive by the Greeks
