As students in the Music Department work diligently to fine tune their craft, they were recently given the opportunity to learn and work alongside a well respected professional in the field, John Wasson. Across the third week of March, composer and arranger Wasson paid a visit to the Music Department and gave a series of masterclasses, clinics and a final concert with the Concordia Wind Orchestra.

When attending an orchestra and choir concert at Concordia, audiences can often expect to hear classical or sacred repertoire. However, the upcoming Video Games Concert on April 13 hopes to defy this expectation and present musical works with a choir and full orchestra celebrating popular games including “Final Fantasy,” “Halo,” “Starfield,” “Skyrim,” “World of Warcraft” and “Civilization.”

With rehearsals twice a week the Concordia handbell ensembles strive for excellence in their instruments, while also providing new and innovative handbell repertoire.

The childhood dreams of stuffed animals and monsters hiding under the bed are coming to life for the Theatre Department with their upcoming production of “Under The Bed.” Written by Brendan Murray, and directed by Tony Vezner, “Under The Bed” follows brother and sister, Jo and Mo, as they conquer the fear of what's hiding under their bed. Along the way, they meet new friends and take whimsical adventures ranging from the North Pole to the South Seas.

In anticipation of the upcoming February holiday, students in the Music Department are preparing for their “Concert for Valentines.” Featuring the Donne Di Canto women's chorus and the Men's Chorus under the direction of Dr. Clarissa Shan, “A Concert for Valentines” has become a yearly tradition for Concordia and is one of the most well attended and highly anticipated concerts of the Music Department season.
